FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal is carrying huge expectations at the World Cup, but inside the Spain camp, he is still finding space to enjoy football like an 18-year-old should.
His friendship with Nico Williams has continued from Euro 2024, while Yeremy Pino has now become part of that tight group during Spain’s stay in the United States.
According to SPORT, the three have built a strong bond around jokes, video games, and constant noise, to the point that some of the senior players often have to tell them to quieten down.
That may sound light, but it matters. For a player like Lamine, who already carries enormous responsibility for Barcelona and Spain, feeling relaxed inside the group is important.
Yeremy joked about being stuck between Nico and Lamine, saying:
“I made a mistake sitting between the two of them because I get all the jokes. But very well, honestly.”
Asked whether they have a name for the group, he added:
“No, more insults than nicknames.”
The Crystal Palace winger also admitted they are very competitive when playing games, especially EA Sports FC and Fortnite.
On Lamine, Yeremy was full of praise:
“He is a kind, sensible and responsible person. What he transmits on the pitch is exactly how he is off it. He is a world-class player and everything good that happens to him will be good for us.”
Lamine may look fearless on the pitch, but he still needs the right environment around him. It is sometimes easy to forget how young he is.
Yeremy also defended his recent performance, saying Lamine was fully fit and had played well even without a goal or assist.
That is the key point. Not every strong Lamine display needs to end in numbers.
Barcelona know they have a special talent, but Spain are also learning how to protect and enjoy him. With teammates who keep him grounded, competitive, and smiling, Lamine looks in the right place emotionally as the tournament reaches its busy end.
