A rather tricky game for FC Barcelona ends up in a win over Real Oviedo. At the opposition’s home stadium, the Catalan giants looked to be struggling initially but eventually managed to grow into the game and secure all three points with a 3-1 win.

Thanks to goals from Eric Garcia, Robert Lewandowski, and Ronald Araujo, Hansi Flick’s side was able to make a comeback after conceding first. However, not every player had an equally impactful game for Barça.

Player Ratings:

Joan Garcia: 7.0

Made a huge blunder early on and that allowed Real Oviedo to essentially get a free goal. However, he improved as the game went on and returned to his usual composed self soon enough.

Eric Garcia: 8.5

Big performance from the Spaniard, both in attack and in defense. He scored the first goal for Barça, and constantly made sure that the Real Oviedo players were not comfortable at all in attack either. Continued to run with determination even at the end.

Ronald Araujo: 8.0

Strong defensive display from the Barça captain, who held his own immensely well. Had it not been for a blunder from Joan Garcia, a clean sheet would have been possible too. Ended up scoring a late goal as well from a corner.

Pau Cubarsi: 7.0

Composed defensively and reliable on the ball as well. Did not try anything too flashy often, and kept things simple enough for Barça to grow into the game and start to dominate proceedings.

Gerard Martin: 5.0

Sluggish in possession and in terms of his passing as well, Gerard Martin really struggled in this game. Moreover, he was constantly getting beat by the Real Oviedo winger who he was trying to mark.

Marc Casado: 5.5

Did the basics right, but was quite ineffective in terms of threatening Real Oviedo in any meaningful way. Ended up being replaced by Frenkie de Jong, and that change proved to make a difference.

Pedri: 8.0

Yet another game in which Pedri seemed to be the brightest way for Barcelona to somehow find a goal. Ran his heart out, and continued to create opportunities for his teammates with some clever passes and some creative turns that left the opposition players confused.

Raphinha: 6.0

An underwhelming performance from the Brazilian forward, but he did his work off the ball well. However, it made sense as to why Hansi Flick ended up taking him off to introduce other players.

Dani Olmo: 6.0

Lost possession a few times and his touches were way too heavy for him to effectively operate against Real Oviedo’s congested structure. As the game went on, however, he began to generally improve.

Marcus Rashford: 8.0

Eager to make an impact since the start of the game, Marcus Rashford continuously tested the opposition defense and goalkeeper. Ultimately ended up grabbing an assist for Ronald Araujo’s goal as well.

Ferran Torres: 5.5

His touches were not exactly perfect and he was also quite restricted by the opposition defenders. His impact improved as the game went on, but it was hardly an ideal game for him.

Substitutes:

Frenkie de Jong: 9.0

The difference maker in this game for Barcelona, Frenkie de Jong’s introduction was exactly what Barça needed. Beyond just the team’s improved possession and control, he also provided a perfect assist to Robert Lewandowski.

Robert Lewandowski: 8.0

Did not take long for the Polish veteran to score after coming on, and he did so with a sublime header. Apart from that, he continued to be a threat to the Real Oviedo goalkeeper.

Jules Kounde: 7.5

Great cameo from the Frenchman, who was rather tricky for Real Oviedo to deal with. Made a crucial intervention in the Barcelona box and also showcased his technical ability during this game.

Andreas Christensen: N/A
