Abner struck in the second minute of first half stoppage time to set Lyon on course, and they beat Brest 2-1. The Brazilian midfielder's finish proved the decisive moment.
Before the interval he had already been influential, switching play and delivering from wide areas, with nine successful final third passes and an accurate cross driving the hosts up the pitch.
He then converted Endrick's pass just before the whistle, arriving in the box to apply the finish that ultimately separated the sides.
After the restart he underpinned Les Gones' control: three accurate crosses from six, 22 successful final third passes and four tackles, winning three, across 77 touches, kept Brest pinned back and limited their transitions.
Because he consistently offered width and timing from midfield, Les Gones controlled the key phases and managed the game state on their terms.
Les Gones climb from fifth to fourth in Ligue 1. They visit BSC Young Boys in the Europa League next. Brest host Toulouse next.
How high would you rate Abner's performance tonight?
