Luis Suárez won it in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time with a glancing header, as Sporting CP beat Arouca 2-1.
In the 35th minute, the Colombian forward opened the scoring with a right-footed finish into the bottom left corner after drifting in from the left.
After the restart, he slipped Geny Catamo into the box for a blocked strike (56.). He then headed over from a right-wing cross (60.).
Suárez finished with seven attempts, two on target, and 13 touches in the box, underlining his penalty-area presence. He is now on 17 league goals, joint second in Liga Portugal's scoring chart.
With the Leões supplying frequent crosses, his constant movement between defenders kept Arouca's back line under pressure and ensured the key moments broke his way.
The Leões visit Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League next. Arouca go to Rio Ave in Liga Portugal.
