FC Barcelona are looking to strengthen their team ahead of the next season, and the Blaugranes are clear about some of the positions that they want to reinforce in the upcoming summer transfer window.
One of these positions that seems to be the highest on the Catalan club’s agenda for reinforcement is that of the goalkeeper. In this regard, Barcelona seems to be getting near to the signing of the RCD Espanyol goalie, Joan Garcia.

The shot-stopper has already agreed to join the Blaugrana team, and preparations to complete the rest of the process for his signing have already begun.
In fact, according to Mundo Deportivo, the decisive week in this operation has already begun, as the Catalan club intends to complete his signing in the coming few days according to the roadmap presented to the player’s agents when he had accepted the offer from the Azulgrana side. Tuesday was the date the club had initially proposed to complete his signing.
In addition to this roadmap, the documentation presented to the agents also included some sporting and financial terms. One such term guaranteed the registration of the goalkeeper with the Barcelona team and him being registered as a priority in case of any issues with the 1:1 rule.
However, the Blaugranes are not expecting any problems in this regard, especially once the auditor has allowed the VIP seat transaction to be accounted for and some departures are finalized.
Although the Catalans are looking to pay his release clause in the coming days, he will not be presented as a Barcelona player till he is registered with La Liga, which can happen only after July 1st.
His arrival will complicate things for other goalkeepers in the Blaugrana squad, but Barcelona are clear that he will be the starter next season, while Wojciech Szczesny would be the second-placed goalkeeper in the squad.
