Ousmane Dembele is currently basking in his Ballon d’Or success, with the Paris Saint-Germain forward winning football’s most prestigious individual honour on Monday night.
Dembele won the majority of the vote at the awards in Paris, beating Lamine Yamal and Vitinha to the awards. His Ballon d’Or is recognition of a career-best campaign, in which Dembele inspired PSG to quadruple success.
Reinvented as a centre-forward, he scored 35 goals in all competitions for Luis Enrique’s all-conquering side.
Dembele’s win at the Ballon d’Or marked a remarkable redemption, for a player who had struggled to fulfil his potential amid injuries, after his initial exciting emergence.
Now, he is cemented in football folklore as a Ballon d’Or winner, while the 28-year-old is just the 10th player to achieve football’s ‘holy trinity’ of winning the individual award, World Cup, and Champions League.
