Derby County travel to the CBS Arena tonight aiming to secure a vital victory in their quest for the playoffs.
The Rams have moved to within three points of the top six under manager John Eustace. Derby arrive on the back of consecutive 1-0 wins and will look to frustrate the league leaders tonight. While they lost the reverse fixture in a high-scoring thriller, the visitors won this exact game last season.
John Eustace manages a squad hit by a significant injury to a key playmaker. Sammie Szmodics is unavailable tonight after suffering a head injury while representing the Republic of Ireland.
Consequently, Bobby Clark is expected to move into the number 10 role, with David Ozoh returning to the midfield. Carlton Morris is likely to lead the attack as Patrick Agyemang only returned from international duty on Wednesday.
Lars-Jørgen Salvesen remains a dangerous option from the bench with his league-best efficiency rate. Josh O’Donnell will start in goal behind a back four likely featuring Dion Sanderson and Matt Clarke. In midfield, Lewis Travis will partner Ozoh to stifle Coventry’s creative threats.
Ben Brereton Díaz and Rhian Brewster will provide the attacking support from the flanks. Derby have won nine away games this season and will need another resilient performance to halt Coventry’s title charge.
Derby County Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): O’Donnell; Ward, Sanderson, Clarke, Murkin; Travis, Ozoh; Brereton Diaz, Clark, Brewster; Morris
