Marc Cucurella’s comments about Chelsea’s project won’t see him punished by the club, although Liam Rosenior has admitted he was “disappointed.”

Liam Rosenior explained in his press conference today that he was “disappointed” by what Marc Cucurella had said to the media about Chelsea’s ongoing project, but not enough to punish him.

While on Spain duty, the full back had lamented the departure of Enzo Maresca mid-season and criticised the lack of experience in Chelsea’s squad.

Rosenior on why he had a problem with Cucurella’s comments

“I had a fantastic chat with Marc yesterday, half an hour in my office,” Rosenior said.

“I’ve been here for less than three months, I’m enjoying it. My disappointment in Marc’s interview was where it went to, I think he should’ve spoke to us first about how he was feeling. As a football club, we know we need to improve. We know what we’re going to do in the summer to achieve those objectives.”

Again, there are vague promises about something magical to come this summer that might improve things. But with Champions League football likely not on the menu next season and record losses piling up, what can Chelsea really do in terms of buying players to dramatically change things?

Also: it was clear that a lack of experience was going to be a problem. Why wait so many windows to address it?

In other news…

Rosenior and the club decided that Enzo’s words were a separate case – the midfielder has been suspended for two games.
