Corinthians head coach Dorival Júnior praised São Paulo midfielder Alisson after Thursday's draw with Santos at Vila Belmiro, suggesting he could strengthen a role the squad lack. He also noted he has worked with the player before.
According to Meu Timao, Corinthians have moved to take Alisson on loan until the end of 2026, agreeing a R$ 1.5 million fee with an option to buy. Payment terms remain under discussion, with the club seeking instalments.
Dorival said he first saw Alisson at Vasco in his youth, later repositioned him to suit his attributes and values his versatility across midfield. He believes that, if the player finds his best conditions at Corinthians, he could be an important addition.
The coach added that his squad have few options for rotation given the calendar's demands. He said many names are being mentioned, but that firmer assessments depend on concrete negotiations.
Talks have passed through several stages. A player swap was explored without progress, a two-season free loan was then discussed and ruled out, and São Paulo now want financial compensation to release the midfielder.
Alisson made 52 appearances last season, scoring one goal and providing two assists. In 2026 he has missed São Paulo's last three matches, including the Majestoso, amid negotiations, a situation confirmed by Hernán Crespo and Dorival.
Corinthians have already announced centre-back Gabriel Paulista, midfielder Matheus Pereira and right-back Pedro Milans. Forward Kaio César and goalkeeper João Ricardo are also agreed.
