Dundee goalkeeper Jon McCracken has revealed that he is in talks with the Dens Park club over an extension despite links to Celtic. The Scottish goalkeeper was linked with a move to the Scottish Champions as a free agent in the summer to offer competition for Vil Sinisalo.
The 25-year-old has become a key figure at Dens Park under both Tony Docherty and Steven Pressley but he’s out of contract in the summer. Speaking to the media conference via Dee TV, McCracken stated that negotiations were ongoing but nothing would be confirmed until their top flight status was secured.
“There’s not been anything for definite. We’re still in negotiations with the club.
“Myself and the manager have been quite clear that no decisions can be made until the club secures it’s safety.
“That’s kind of where we’re at.
“Still in negotiations with the club but, like I say, nothing can be set in stone until we get the job done, really.”
McCracken, who came through the Hamilton Accies and Norwich academies, has made over 70 appearances for Dundee and has impressed, earning a call up into the Scotland squad.
Celtic exploited the free agent market last summer to replace Scott Bain with Ross Doohan from Aberdeen. The club have UEFA quotas to keep in mind and require a certain amount of Scottish players, something that is proving to be harder given the lack of players coming through from the Academy.
