Durham sign Southampton midfielder Griffiths on loan | OneFootball

Durham have completed the signing of Southampton midfielder Alice Griffiths on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Wildcats this evening.

The 24-year-old Welsh international has been with Southampton since October 2021 and she helped the club to an FA Women’s National League Championship Play-Off Final win in her first season on the South Coast. Griffiths has gone on to make 42 appearances for The Saints in the Barclays Women’s Championship, helping the club to establish themselves as a second tier side.

Griffiths is in need of more regular game time this season and the player has been allowed to join Durham on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

After signing on at Maiden Castle, Griffiths said “I’m really happy to be here. Durham are flying in the league, so I’m joining a team that’s really competitive and it seems like a great place to come.

“I was only here last week [with Southampton], it is clearly a Club that has a lot of support and they have a lot of ambition. They’re always in and around the top of the table, so it is great to be a part of that now.”

Griffiths will be available for selection when Durham travel to Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon.
