Paulo Dybala has undergone successful surgery on his left knee in Rome, with recovery expected to take around 45 days, ruling him out of the Finalissima against Spain.
According to SuperDepor.com, the procedure at the Villa Stuard clinic, overseen by specialist Piero Paolo Mariani, confirmed a tear of the external meniscus.
He experienced renewed pain during a session at the Fulvio Bernardini training centre under Gian Piero Gasperini and left early. The player and Roma’s medical staff then chose an exploratory arthroscopy to assess the joint.
On this timescale, he could return around Serie A matchday 33, when Roma face Atalanta. He has not featured since 25 January, when Roma met Milan in the league.
The lay-off also affects Argentina’s plans in a campaign already marked by fitness issues. He has played 22 matches for Roma this season, starting 14, with three goals and four assists, and the priority now is completing his recovery.
