The Egyptian Football Association condemned racist chanting during the 0-0 friendly against Spain at RCDE Stadium. In a statement, the federation said the behaviour was unacceptable and called for a collective effort to eradicate it.

Incidents included chanting by sections of the crowd that anyone who does not jump is Muslim, plus disrespect shown towards Egypt’s anthem.

There was also praise for the swift responses of the Spanish federation and local authorities, who condemned the episodes.

Federation president Hany Abo Rida has begun talks with international bodies, including FIFA, to help prevent any repeat.

The incidents were characterised as isolated and not damaging to relations between the two countries, alongside a renewed commitment to a respectful game built on openness and cooperation.

On the pitch, Egypt’s solid display was highlighted as preparations continue for the 2026 World Cup, where Belgium await in the group stage.
