Sunderland face significant contract decisions after a remarkable Premier League return, with eight players nearing the end of their deals this summer.

According to Sunderland Echo, the 2026 group comprises Simon Moore, Bertrand Traore, Lutsharel Geertruida on loan, Dennis Cirkin and Harrison Jones, plus Niall Huggins, Zak Johnson and Dan Neil, all currently out on loan.

Head coach Regis Le Bris has recently discussed what could lie ahead for Cirkin as he enters the final months of his contract. Seven other players will move into the last year of their deals this summer.

A largely rebuilt squad delivered standout results, with Robin Roefs, Granit Xhaka and Brian Brobbey among those who have driven an impressive campaign. With four games remaining, Sunderland are still in the hunt for European qualification.

Fresh signings are anticipated as the hierarchy aim to maintain their transfer-market hit rate, but decisions on several established figures are set to frame the summer.
