Marca states that Enzo Fernández wants a move to Real Madrid, but a hefty price is viewed as the main obstacle.
Transfermarkt values a potential deal at around 140 million euros, after Chelsea paid 121 million euros to Benfica in January 2023.
The Argentina midfielder is said to be unhappy at Chelsea after their recent EFL Cup exit, and regards the Spanish capital as a dream destination. The report adds that, despite being a key figure and captain at the London club, he is dissatisfied with their Premier League form.
Three years on from his Premier League switch, he is understood to be seeking a fresh start. The report also says Álvaro Arbeloa’s team are looking to bolster midfield and consider the ex-Benfica player a strong fit.
This season for Chelsea, Fernández has played 36 matches, 23 in the Premier League, eight in the Champions League, four in the EFL Cup and one in the FA Cup. Across 2,866 minutes he has 11 goals and four assists, and is listed at 85 million euros.
