Enzo Maresca on James Trafford amid Leeds interest, ‘we will see’ | OneFootball

Enzo Maresca offered a non-committal update on Leeds United target James Trafford, addressing the goalkeeper’s situation during the transfer window.

"I know James because he was my keeper when I was with the Under-23s, so I know James very good," said Maresca, as quoted by City Xtra. "But again, when the transfer window is open, now or in January, anything can happen. So we’ll see, but at the moment he’s one of our keepers."

Leeds are seeking a new goalkeeper and remain in discussions over a deal to bring Trafford, their number one target, to Elland Road.

Trafford came through City’s academy, including under Maresca with the under-23s, before leaving for Burnley in July 2023 for £15m. City re-signed him last summer via a buy-back clause for £31m, but he had limited minutes behind new first-choice Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Maresca fielded the question at his introductory press conference on Friday as City begin life after Pep Guardiola’s departure at the end of last season.
