Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has responded to comments saying that Bayern Munich have ‘inside knowledge’ to beat them.
Maresca and his Chelsea side face Bayern Munich tonight in the first game in the new Champions League format and Chelsea’s first game back in the competition for some time.
Blues fans will be excited to finally be back in the UCL but they will be fearing a very tough opponent in their own back yard tonight as we know what a tough place it can be to go and play, and we know what a tough side Bayern Munich are. Chelsea can also feel some confidence too though, they are in a decent run of form and have had a very good summer, beating PSG to become Champions of the world.

Bayern Munich’s director said earlier this week that Nicolas Jackson will give them some inside knowledge to help them beat Chelsea.
Max Eberl said Bayern will benefit from Nicolas Jackson’s inside knowledge of Chelsea: “I’m sure Vinnie and the coaching staff will ask him. There are always certain processes that you might still see in the analysis. What signals do they have? What do these signals mean? I certainly believe the coaching staff will make use of this advantage.”
Maresca, who has already been speaking about Chelsea’s expectations in the competition this season, was asked about these comments and has responded.
As cited on X, Maresca said:
“Maybe it could be a small advantage. Because he [Kompany] can ask Nico about the way we work and prepare. Nico was with us the entire season so he knows exactly the way we approach games. We’ll see anyway.”
