AS Monaco manager Sébastien Pocognoli didn’t want to talk about “regrets” after his side threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. Instead, he insisted that, only one goal down in the two-legged UEFA Champions League play-off, there is still “everything to play for” when Monaco head to the Parc des Princes next week.

The Principality club went two goals up within 20 minutes but at full-time, Pocognoli would be grateful that their deficit was just one goal. That is after a Désiré Doué-inspired PSG came roaring back in the first-half to head into half-time level, before an Aleksandr Golovin red card upon the return from the dressing room handed Les Parisiens the advantage. They would make it count, with Doué netting the winner midway through the second half.

“I am happy with the way that we defended with 10, which allows us to have a return leg with everything to play for,” said Pocognoli.

The Monaco manager added, “We can consider ourselves lucky to have defended well and for there to be just one goal between us in the second half, leaving us with a lot of ambition.”
