  • 19th March – our exclusive info confirms that Fernandez’s Chelsea future has been in doubt for some time, with the Blues already preparing to move for Elliot Anderson to replace him.
  • 21st March – Fernandez criticises the decision to part ways with Enzo Maresca, admitting his departure unsettled the Chelsea squad.
  • 23rd March – Fernandez refuses to rule out leaving Chelsea, simply saying “we’ll see” when asked about what could happen with him this summer.
  • 23rd March – Fernandez linked with Real Madrid as talkSPORT claim he sees it as a career-defining step.

Real Madrid could do with a midfielder like Fernandez, and it might also suit Chelsea to cash in on him at this point.

Even if the 25-year-old can be a top player on his day, he hasn’t quite been consistent enough for CFC and it’s possible that they could make big money from his sale and replace him with someone better.
