Sunderland are racing to seal a late move for Anderlecht winger Nilsun Angulo before the 7pm deadline. According to Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats have targeted the Ecuadorian 22-year-old to bolster their wide options.
The push forms part of a wider reshuffle on Wearside today. Angulo has 22 Belgian Pro League appearances this season, with six goals and four assists. Sunderland are content with their current wide options, but would add further quality if possible.
Simon Adingra is undergoing a medical ahead of a potential switch to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, which would deliver an initial seven-figure loan fee. An option to buy will be included and, if triggered in the summer, would see Sunderland recoup the vast majority of their summer outlay on the winger, who has struggled to secure a regular place in Régis Le Bris’s XI.
Adingra’s exit depends on Adil Aouchiche’s move to Schalke. The Bundesliga 2 leaders have agreed a permanent deal, which would prompt his recall from a loan at Aberdeen and free up one of Sunderland’s six international loan slots for Adingra.
It remains to be seen whether any of these three deals can be concluded before the deadline, though Aouchiche’s is by some distance the most advanced. Clubs can gain an extra two hours to finish paperwork if they submit a deal sheet before 7pm.
Earlier today Sunderland sanctioned Leo Hjelde’s loan to Sheffield United, and Patrick Roberts could complete a permanent move to Birmingham City before the cut-off.
