Fenerbahce are seriously interested in Christopher Nkunku, but the player is keen on staying at Milan and trying to keep building on his recent slump-busting brace. The forward would reunite with coach Domenico Tedesco in Turkey, under whom he had one of his best seasons at RB Leipzig a few years back, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
On the other hand, the Rossoneri spent about €35M for the former Chelsea star. The counterparty hasn’t offered that much at this stage. Despite the player’s stance regarding his permanence, the negotiation isn’t completely dead in the water. However, there aren’t the premises for the deal to move forward at this stage.
According to Calciomercato, Fenerbahce have verbally proposed a loan with an option to buy for Nkunku, which Milan promptly rejected. Juventus have also poked around, as they are searching for a versatile striker. His agent, Pino Zahavi, has received rich bids from Saudi Arabia, but the Frenchman doesn’t like the destination.
The Rossoneri have inquired about Milan Skriniar, whom Massimiliano Allegri esteems, but the Turkish club doesn’t want to lose him in January. He inked a contract until 2029 last summer. Director Igli Tare has been quietly eyeing other strikers, for instance, Angers youngster Sidiki Cherif, who has bagged 4 goals in 16 Ligue 1 appearances.
The recent strong showing doesn’t offset all the previous underwhelming ones, but, considering how banged up they have been all season long up front, and the fact that Niclas Fullkrug isn’t exactly the picture of good health, they should pull the trigger only once they have a good replacement in hand and if they get a hefty figure in return, which is probably unlikely.
