After Flamengo’s defeat to Fluminense on Sunday 25, Filipe Luís discussed the absences of Arrascaeta and Jorginho and looked ahead to the Brasileirão opener. According to Coluna Do Fla, he addressed fitness management in his post-match briefing.

Both players were unavailable for the last two matches, when the first team took charge of the Campeonato Carioca campaign.

Filipe Luís said match sharpness comes from minutes and several players were on pre-set limits. Pedro and Bruno Henrique played 45 minutes each, Alex Sandro had 60, and Varela only 30, with the changes agreed in advance with the fitness staff.

He explained that Arrascaeta is following a season plan similar to 2025. Jorginho recently had his wisdom teeth removed and only returned to training on Saturday 24.

Involvement will depend on each player reaching ideal condition, so both remain doubts for São Paulo at Morumbis on Wednesday 28 at 21:30 Brasília time.
