Fiorentina push Mastantuono and Real Madrid for purchase option | OneFootball

Franco Mastantuono is expected in Italy on Wednesday, as Fiorentina and Real Madrid are working out the final details, with reports the loan could have an option to buy.

Multiple sources in Italy and Spain are confident that the player has accepted the idea of leaving Madrid this summer for a new experience in Serie A with the Viola.

He was purchased from River Plate last summer for €45m, but the teenager struggled for regular playing time, so Jose Mourinho advised him to go elsewhere in Europe to aid his development.

Having seen what the time at Como did for Nico Paz, Mastantuono was convinced to come to Serie A too just days before his 19th birthday.

It’s reported that a phone call with coach Fabio Grosso was also crucial in securing the all-clear.

The two clubs are discussing the finer points of the agreement, which largely involves how to split his salary between them.

However, Sportitalia and Labaro Viola claim this evening that Fiorentina are also working to include an option to buy, leaving Real Madrid a counter-option.

This would give the Italians some financial benefit to helping develop the player for a full season rather than just a dry loan.
