Despite making seven changes following their midweek success in Madrid, Vincent Kompany’s side showed no drop in intensity. Goals from Jamal Musiala, Leon Goretzka, Michael Olise, Nicolas Jackson and Raphaël Guerreiro sealed an emphatic victory for the league leaders.
There was no sign of any European hangover early on, as Bayern immediately asserted control and pinned St. Pauli deep inside their own half. Their pressure paid off inside nine minutes when Konrad Laimer delivered a precise cross to the back post, where Musiala arrived unmarked to nod home and open the scoring.
Bayern remained firmly on the front foot, with the early goal only sharpening their edge. Nicolas Jackson rattled the crossbar, while Musiala struck the post soon after, as St. Pauli rode their luck to keep the deficit at one heading towards the interval.
The hosts’ best opportunity came around the half-hour mark. A well-worked move down the right ended with Arkadiusz Pyrka finding Mathias Pereira Lage in the box, but just as he looked set to convert from close range, Kim Min-jae produced a superb last-ditch block to preserve Bayern’s lead.
Any hopes of a St. Pauli response after the break were quickly extinguished. Just eight minutes into the second half, Joshua Kimmich’s free-kick was flicked on to Goretzka at the back post, and the midfielder guided a controlled first-time volley into the net—bringing up Bayern’s 102nd league goal of the season and setting a new Bundesliga record.
Moments later, the contest was effectively over. Goretzka regained possession in midfield and fed Olise, who surged forward before drilling a low effort from the edge of the box beyond Nikola Vasilj to make it 3-0.
Bayern showed no signs of easing off. Guerreiro led the charge this time, pressing Karol Mets into a mistake high up the pitch. Musiala capitalised by slipping the ball through to Jackson, who calmly finished to extend the lead to four.
With the game long decided, Bayern controlled proceedings with ease, circulating possession and forcing St. Pauli to chase shadows. Kompany also handed a debut to 18-year-old Bara Sapoko N’Diaye late on, underlining the club’s trust in their emerging talent.
There was still time for one final flourish. In the closing minutes, Guerreiro once again forced a turnover high up the pitch, drove into the box and fired past Vasilj to cap off a comprehensive and record-breaking performance.
