Flamengo won a third straight Carioca title with a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Fluminense after a 0-0 draw at the Maracanã on Sunday night.

According to Globo.com, the result makes Flamengo the first club to collect 40 Rio state titles and extends their lead in the all-time ranking.

It was Leonardo Jardim’s first trophy since being announced as head coach earlier in the week. The Portuguese replaced Filipe Luís, who was dismissed after the semi-final against Madureira.
