Flamengo football director José Boto has criticised Neymar's World Cup call-up by Carlo Ancelotti, while questioning the decision to leave Pedro out of Brazil's final squad.

"It is a pity, I like him a lot, but he cannot play two games in a row. It is obvious he is Neymar. But I cannot understand how a player with, I do not know, two games in the last two months is called up," he told Portugal's Canal 11.

Neymar reported for national team duty with a calf injury and has been undergoing treatment. The expectation is that he will be available for Brazil's third World Cup match next Wednesday, against Scotland.

Pedro was on Brazil's provisional list but was not called up by Ancelotti at any point. He has 17 goals this year and is second in the Brasileirão scoring chart with 10, one behind Athletico-PR's Viveiros.

"And Pedro, who has 15 goals and is the Brasileirão's top scorer, is not called up. These are the coach's choices, and he will pay or not for them."
