After a 79-match 2025, Flamengo have moved to bolster rehabilitation by investing in anti-gravity technology for injured players.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the club have purchased an Anti-Gravity Treadmill, widely dubbed the NASA machine, for about R$ 500 thousand, now installed at Ninho do Urubu. Athletes such as Cristiano Ronaldo have used similar equipment.

The device looks and works like a treadmill but is designed for cases such as anterior cruciate ligament rupture, muscle injuries and tendinitis.

Fernando Sassaki, Flamengo’s head of medical, said it enables weight-controlled running via a waist harness and an air-filled chamber that reduces gravity, helping players progress and return sooner.

Flamengo currently have three players in treatment. Saúl Ñíguez is recovering from ankle surgery, Alex Sandro from a thigh issue and Bruno Henrique from pubic pain. Of the trio, only the Spanish midfielder requires the technology.

With a chance Bruno Henrique could be available, the club await the end of the FIFA window before facing Bragantino on 2 April. Kick-off is 21:30 Brasília time at Estádio Cícero de Souza Marques, in the ninth round of the Brasileirão.
