Flick sends clear warning before Barcelona face Newcastle
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expects a tough test against Newcastle ahead of their Champions League round of 16 clash.
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick warned his players about the danger posed by Newcastle United before their UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg match.
Barcelona travel to St James’ Park on Tuesday for the opening leg of the tie. Flick appeared at the pre match press conference alongside goalkeeper Joan Garcia where he discussed the challenge awaiting the Spanish side.
The German coach highlighted Newcastle’s physical style and aggressive pressing. He said the English team are strong in one on one situations and quick when attacking which means Barcelona must defend with courage and discipline during the two legs.
Flick also spoke about the strength of the Premier League describing it as the strongest league in world football. He pointed to the financial power of English clubs which allows them to make big decisions and attract top players.
Looking ahead to Champions League clash, Flick again warned about Newcastle’s dangerous counterattacks. He said every team in the competition wants to show its best level which makes the tie even more demanding.
The Barcelona coach stressed that his players must deliver a strong performance if they want a positive result in England.
