Phil Foden described Player of the Match Erling Haaland’s display in the derby victory over Manchester United as a ‘complete performance’.
On the attacking front, Haaland was at his very best against our neighbours scoring two in the 3-0 triumph at the Etihad.
But more than that, our powerful No.9 was also a towering presence in defence during the 90 minutes.
The striker made a total of six clearances, including four with his head, with centre-back Ruben Dias the only sky blue player to contribute more.
Foden, who scored the opener, was thoroughly impressed with his contribution at both ends of the pitch.
“It was a complete performance,” said Foden.
“The way he held up the ball, he did everything today, defending, attacking, running in behind, doing all the dirty work, pressing for the team.
“It was a full shift from him.”
Foden also dedicated the derby triumph to Ricky Hatton.
City were today devastated at news of the passing of Hatton aged just 46.
And Foden said the victory was in his honour.
“100%,” when asked if the derby victory was for Hatton.
“I had extra motivation going into the game.
“It was for him, his family and the people suffering right now.
“The lads made sure we gave everything. It wasn’t a pretty match but the way we ran, it was all for him and we are delighted with the result.”
