Nottingham Forest Forest moved closer to a Europa League play-off spot with a comfortable 3-0 win over Malmo at the City Ground, in a repeat of their famous 1979 European Cup final triumph against the Swedish champions.
From the start, Forest were in control. They dominated possession, pressed high, and rarely allowed Malmo out of their own half.
Ryan Ryan Yates broke the deadlock on 27 minutes, slotting home a low finish after a deflected Milenkovic cross fell kindly at his feet.
Forest continued to press, and just before half-time, Arnaud Kalimuendo notched his first goal for the club, reacting quickest to a header from Yates that was well saved by Melker Ellborg.
The result was effectively settled early in the second half when Nikola Milenkovic tucked home from close range following another set-piece.
Sean Dyche took the opportunity to rotate his squad late on, handing minutes to several players as the hosts maintained control without being seriously tested.
Malmo, meanwhile, struggled throughout, completing just a handful of passes in Forest’s half and registering almost no clear chances.
The win marks Forest’s third successive victory in all competitions and keeps them well placed for the Europa League knockouts, while also continuing the side’s revival under Dyche following a turbulent summer of managerial changes.
