Nottingham Forest comfortably dispatched Malmo 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday evening, extending their unbeaten run to five matches in all competitions.
Forest started the game the way manager Sean Dyche would have wanted, applying pressure on Malmo.
Arnaud Kalimuendo dragged an effort wide, and Nicolas Dominguez failed to hit the target from a promising position, both occuring inside the first seven minutes.
Malmo registered the game’s first shot on target, with goalkeeper John Victor diving to keep out Sead Haksabanovic’s strike.
Ryan Yates put Forest ahead in the 28th minute, drilling the ball into the bottom right corner for his first goal of the campaign.
Nikola Milenkovic should have doubled the hosts’ lead following a corner but he could only direct his effort into the hands of goalkeeper Melker Ellborg.
Ellborg thought he had denied Forest a second goal, parrying Yates’ effort away, only for Kalimuendo to tap the rebound into the net.
Forest picked up where they left off before the break and it was only a matter of time they added to their tally.
Malmo failed to clear their lines from James McAtee’s corner, allowing an unmarked Milenkovic to extend Forest’s advantage.
Callum Hudson-Odoi almost got in on the act, firing an effort onto the bar, much to the relief of Malmo.
Forest are back in Europa League action on December 11, when they face Dutch side Utrecht, aiming to move further up the league phase standings.
