With just two days remaining before Barcelona’s crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Inter Milan, former Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello has weighed in on the tie and his message is one that should lift the spirits of Barça fans.

It must be noted that the first leg at the Montjuic Stadium ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw, setting up a blockbuster showdown at San Siro to decide who reaches the final.

Barcelona head into this game knowing they must remain fearless in Italy, and according to Capello, the return of star forward Robert Lewandowski could be a decisive factor.

“Advantage Barcelona” – Capello

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t MARCA), Capello shared his assessment of Inter’s recent form and the upcoming clash.

“Has Inter lost its rhythm? More than anything, they have been too humble—or perhaps they have just been thinking too much about the Champions League,” he said, implying a dip in Inter’s confidence or focus.

When asked for his thoughts on the second leg, the experienced Italian tactician did not hesitate to highlight Barcelona’s strength:

“How do I see the second leg against FC Barcelona? 50/50. The sheer quality of the Blaugrana team scares me. And the possible return of Lewandowski would make the difference.”

That is high praise from a man who has managed Europe’s biggest clubs. Capello’s words underline the impact Lewandowski can have, even if he is only available for part of the match.

The Polish striker, out recently with a thigh injury, is expected to make a return just in time and could feature off the bench if needed.

Hansi Flick will be counting on every bit of experience and firepower available. With Lewandowski possibly returning and players like Gavi also declared fit, Barcelona look well-equipped to overcome Inter and secure a spot in the Champions League final.
