Former West Ham United winger Michail Antonio has been training with Leicester City as a free agent after leaving the London Stadium club, according to the Telegraph journalist John Percy.

Antonio left West Ham in the summer after both parties could not agree to an extension, and the former Hammers star was at Leicester’s training ground on Thursday for talks over a deal.

While nothing has been decided yet, he has continued to train with the 2015-16 Premier League Champions as he hopes to get a deal and help them seal an instant return to the top-flight after their relegation last term.

Antonio has not played at senior level since a road traffic accident last December, but he has featured for West Ham under-21s in recent months to continue building up his fitness.

The 35-year-old played for them in the Premier League 2 opening match on 18 August against Nottingham Forest under-21s and is now hoping to get a deal at Leicester.

He spent ten seasons with the Hammers, scoring 83 goals in 323 appearances, and he is not keen on retiring yet despite some punditry roles of recent.

Leicester are 13th in the Championship table after 20 games, with three points separating them from the play-offs positions.

The Foxes manager Marti Cifuentes could be open to handing Antonio a deal until the end of the season if he believes the Jamaican international has what it takes to improve his attack and boost their promotion chances.

The versatile attacker will not be short of suitors in the Championship if Leicester decide against a deal, and others will continue to keep tabs on his situation.

Antonio still believes he has what it takes to play in the Premier League but he may need to prove himself in the Championship first after a year out of action.

Leicester could be open to giving him an opportunity, and getting promoted with them if he signs a deal will be a dream come true for him.
