Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

On another day, Brentford’s strong performance in their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea could easily have brought a fourth win from five Premier League meetings at Stamford Bridge.

The Bees outdid the Blues for attempts (15 v 6), shots inside the box (10 v 4), and efforts on target (5 v 2), as analysed in depth earlier this week, yet Saturday’s hosts scored both of theirs via João Pedro (£7.1m) and a Cole Palmer (£10.4m) penalty.

Kevin Schade (£7.1m) shot four times and found himself one-on-one with Robert Sánchez (£4.9m), but Chelsea’s goalkeeper made a brilliant save to deny the German.

Meanwhile, a header from Igor Thiago (£7.2m) went wide, with Mathias Jensen’s (£4.9m) volley hitting the post after a Mikkel Damsgaard (£5.7m) flick.

The latter set up two big chances throughout the match, finding time to achieve a two-point defensive contribution (DefCon) reward, like Yehor Yarmoliuk (£5.0m).

Special mention also goes out to Vitaly Janelt (£4.9m) and his five chances created.

The Spotlight

In the 77th minute, club record signing Dango Ouattara (£5.8m) came on for his first appearance since Gameweek 16’s draw with Leeds United.

After that, he missed five full matches while away at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), assisting twice as Burkina Faso reached the Round of 16.

It’ll be great to have the 23-year-old back, as his form between Gameweeks 9 and 13 was particularly eye-catching for FPL managers: two goals, four assists and 34 points.

In fact, over the whole season, Ouattara boasts a very similar minutes per shot rate to Schade (45.8), but at a lower price.

He could be a great differential for these upcoming weeks, having recently dropped in price three times.

Best of the Rest

Elsewhere, no midfielder or forward exceeded 10 points, as only Sánchez and Patrick Dorgu (£4.3m) did so overall.

The Manchester United defender was once again played higher up the pitch, delivering a goal and a clean sheet in his side’s superb derby win over Manchester City.

That makes it two strikes, two assists and two shutouts from six successive starts, all for a bargain price.

However, the low average score of Gameweek 22 teams sums up the current state of FPL right now, where lots of popular ‘template’ players are having a tough time.

In Demand

For example, Phil Foden’s (£8.6m) sixth consecutive match without any attacking returns is proving to be the final straw for many. Especially when opponent Bruno Fernandes (£9.2m) was having a great time.

They look set to be this week’s most sold and most bought players where, in many cases, it’s a simple switch from one to the other.

What complicates matters is that Foden is about to face Wolves, whereas United visit Arsenal. Not that this is stopping Fernandes, Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo (£8.1m) from being the most-purchased trio, as of now.

Another popular exodus involves new Man City signing Marc Guéhi (£5.3m). That’s likely because many FPL managers will now own four players from Pep Guardiola’s side, and the maximum is three per club. It means that one of the quartet must be their next Fantasy sale.

Captaincy

Another frequent letdown of late is Erling Haaland (£15.1m). Often handed the armband by default, he’s on a mere one attacking return and 14 points from five outings.

But, like Foden, it’s hard to go against him when at home to last-placed Wolves.

Particularly when no other contenders stand out, apart from perhaps Thiago and Hugo Ekitike (£8.9m), versus Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.
