France are expected to change their World Cup training base in the Boston area, with Bentley University likely to replace Babson College. Barring a late hitch, the choice is due to be confirmed within hours.

According to L'Équipe, Babson had been preferred for weeks but is now unlikely to be retained after the college, FIFA and the FFF failed to reach a three-party agreement. The impasse was attributed officially to financial disagreements.

The Bentley campus, north-west of Boston and around a half-hour by coach from the France hotel, has been judged more functional. It has therefore emerged as the leading option for the squad’s training.

With fewer than three months until the competition, the national team now have a clearer view of their day-to-day set-up during the tournament.

The switch reflects a change of plan after extended work on the Babson route, which stalled over terms.
