Frank Magri is not expected to play again for Toulouse this season after refusing a contract extension, with the 26-year-old Cameroon forward excluded from selection.
According to L'Équipe, barring a late change of stance from the sporting hierarchy, his final appearance came on 17 January in the 5-1 win over Nice, when he scored and assisted. A knee problem sustained that night kept him out until recently.
Back in training in recent days, he expected to return for Friday’s 20:45 trip to PSG but was not selected.
This was not a coaching call by Carles Martinez Novell, but a club decision led by sporting director Viktor Bezhani. Magri has six Ligue 1 goals this season.
Out of contract in June, he will continue to train as normal, in line with the UNFP charter that prevents clubs from restricting access or altering working conditions. He is likely to miss the Coupe de France semi-final against Lens on 21 April, and possibly a final. The Cameroon international has 20 caps.
It is not the first time TFC have sidelined a player this season. In late February, after an exchange with president Olivier Cloarec, Aron Dönnum missed two matches, 1-1 against Paris FC and 0-1 at Rennes, by internal decision. Around then, Bezhani still hoped to persuade Magri to extend, or at least to find the best solution for all parties. Talks have begun with several clubs.
