The Hamburger Morgenpost reports that Hamburger SV are set to complete the rumored capture of French striker Rayan Philippe. The 24-year-old is due at the newly-promoted Bundesliga side’s headquarters on Tuesday for a medical. The German paper notes that HSV have met Eintracht Braunschweig’s transfer fee demands. Philippe will end up costing die Rothosen approximately €3m.

Philippe scored 14 goals and contributed eight assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for his 2. Bundesliga outfit last season, in the process raising his estimated market value from €1.7m to €3.5m over the course of the last twelve months. The former French U20 international served as one of Hamburg’s top targets this summer.

Hamburg intensified their pursuit after the lucrative sale of Ludovit Reis was completed. The Hanseatic city-state club maintain an estimated positive transfer balance of €5.05m thanks to Reis’ €7m sale. Philippe’s purchase still leaves plenty of liquidity for Stefan Kuntz and the HSV administrative team to utilize during the current window.

At present, however, there isn’t much linking Hamburg with another specific purchase in the German rumor mills just yet.
