Manchester City are understood to have given a tour of their facilities to Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye in January, as per reports in France.
The 18-year-old PSG academy graduate has seen his minutes dry up significantly since returning from representing Senegal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, having previously established himself as a regular fixture under Luis Enrique at the Parc des Princes.
Mbaye made history at PSG last season when he became the club’s youngest-ever player to start an official match – aged just 16 years, six months and 23 days – and has gone on to make 26 appearances in all competitions this term, contributing one goal and two assists across 1,083 minutes of football.
Paris Saint-Germain hold ‘historic’ transfer interest in Manchester City midfielder expected to move this summer
However, the Trappes-born winger has struggled to make an impact since his return from AFCON, failing to register a single goal contribution in eight games since the tournament – having not started for the Parisiens since February 1. He has also not featured in the UEFA Champions League at all since his return.
As reported by L’Equipe in France and relayed by Get Football News France, there were approaches from clubs for Mbaye in January but PSG blocked a mid-season exit. It is also understood that the teenager visited Manchester City‘s facilities in the winter window, though his entourage has denied this.
Aston Villa are also reported to be lining up a move for the PSG winger, with L’Equipe noting it is in England where Mbaye is most highly-rated.
Mbaye is under contract at the Parc des Princes until the summer of 2028, meaning PSG hold considerable leverage in any potential transfer negotiations. His current market value stands at around £25 million.
The right-winger joined PSG’s academy at the age of 10 from local club Versailles and has since developed into one of the most exciting young wide players in European football, earning comparisons with Barcelona‘s Pedri for his technical quality and natural creativity.
Mbaye further underlined his burgeoning reputation on the international stage at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he became Senegal’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the competition and played a key role in their run to the title.

He was also part of the PSG side that won the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup last season, giving him a trophy-winning pedigree that belies his tender years.
For Manchester City, the reported interest fits the profile of the club’s recruitment strategy under director of football Hugo Viana, who has shown a consistent appetite for identifying young, technically gifted attackers with significant development potential.
City are set for a major summer of change at the Etihad Stadium and Viana will be looking to inject further pace and creativity into Pep Guardiola‘s attacking ranks in the window ahead.
