Former Manchester City player and U21 French national team coach, Gaël Clichy, is full of praise for the young French attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.

Having joined Manchester City this summer from Lyon for around £30 million, Cherki made a stunning debut with a goal against Wolves before suffering an injury that sidelined him for two months. Speaking to RMC Sport, Clichy remains impressed by the 22-year-old:

If we're talking about quality, I've never seen a player this good. It's a big statement, but I really believe that if he improves his off-the-ball game, he can reach the numbers of Kevin De Bruyne.

The former full-back also highlights Cherki's ability to create danger in key areas, a valuable asset for City, especially after the departures of players like Sterling, Mahrez, or Sané. However, Clichy points out an area where Cherki needs to improve:

He has to show that he can perform without the ball. That was his weakness in France, and it's what people are noticing in England. If Pep can help him develop in this aspect, it will be a huge advantage.
