AC Milan take on AS Roma in the Coppa Italia tonight at San Siro, with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs.
It has been a chaotic last three days for Milan, who firstly suffered the late heartbreak of Inter’s 93rd-minute equaliser in the derby, and then made three signings on transfer deadline day.
They face a Roma side that have had a predictable resurgence under Claudio Ranieri, and with a potential derby awaiting for both teams in the semis (Inter vs. Lazio is the other quarter-final) there is added pressure riding on this one.
The papers in Italy have focused again on the signings that Milan made in the winter, while Roma were also quite active which means several new faces could feature tonight.
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I’m a devil. It’s Milan-Roma: Gimenez heats San Siro up. Coppa Italia quarter-finals at 21:00. The Mexican and Joao Felix are ready to be introduced. Ranieri unleashes the top players.”
Corriere dello Sport: “Dybala agitates Milan. Ranieri lines up Roma with the big players and calls the new ones. Conceiçao takes Gimenez to the bench.”
Tuttosport: “Gimenez: ‘I’ve chosen No.7 for Sheva and the Bible’. Tonight at San Siro against Roma in Coppa Italia. Ibra: ‘Team improved under Conceiçao’s guidance’.”
QS: “Milan-Roma, quarter-finals of nobility. Ibra: ‘The substitutions? We are stronger’.”
