According to L'Équipe, its annual top 30 for the 2007 generation finds Ethan Nwaneri, Kendry Paez and Chido Obi-Martin struggling this season.
The Premier League remains unforgiving for teenagers, and Nwaneri, ranked fourth, has yet to kick on at Arsenal. He has 37 appearances in all competitions in 2024-2025 but only one start under Mikel Arteta since last summer. He could be loaned or sold this winter, with Manchester United monitoring even as Obi-Martin, 17th, and Diego Leon, 19th, are not featuring for the Red Devils.
Obi-Martin played eight senior matches early in 2025, then has not featured since. Left-back Diego Leon has been restricted to the bench, though he became a Paraguay international in October with one cap.
At Sunderland, Chris Rigg, 13th, has been blocked by Habib Diarra. He aims to seize his chance while Diarra is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, in a side thriving under Régis Le Bris.
Georgian striker Vakhtang Salia, 23rd, has yet to appear for Newcastle. He is seriously injured.
On loan from Chelsea to Strasbourg, Kendry Paez, 21st, has so far confirmed concerns raised in Alsace after his April trial. Used in various roles by Liam Rosenior, he has struggled to find match rhythm and his lifestyle is not optimal. It is uncertain whether he will finish the season with Racing.
Ian Subiabre, 22nd, is another South American finding it tough. He stayed on the bench for River Plate at the Club World Cup, and has more minutes for his national team than his club, which extended him until 2028. He did not shine at the Under-20 World Cup in October either.
