Ghana have sacked Otto Addo, leaving them searching for a new head coach just 72 days before the start of this summer's World Cup.

The decision comes after five straight losses for the Black Stars, who were thrashed 5-1 by Austria last week before Monday evening's 2-1 defeat to Germany.

A statement from the Ghana Football Federation read: "The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours.

“The Ghana Football Association will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course."

Ghana kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17, before facing England six days later.

Addo leaves two years into his second spell in charge of the Black Stars, and was gearing up for his second World Cup as coach.

Ghana beat South Korea during the 2022 World Cup group stage, but were still eliminated before the knockout stages. Addo resigned after the tournament, and was replaced by Chris Hughton.
