Gianluca Prestianni missed three Benfica training sessions with a virus and was doubtful to face Casa Pia, but he recovered in time and featured.
After returning from Argentina duty, he trained in Lisbon on Thursday before feeling unwell. Record reports that his condition then worsened, with high fever forcing three days of rest.
He was selected for the match and came on in the 58th minute, showing readiness despite the brief lay-off.
Prestianni is now back working without restrictions with the squad. Attention has turned to Nacional as the staff assess options for the next game.
His physical progress and recent displays have increased the likelihood of a more prominent role in José Mourinho’s starting plans.
This season he has played 35 matches for Benfica, 23 in Liga Portugal Betclic, five in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 1,726 minutes, the winger has three goals and two assists.
