Santiago Giménez is practically a new player of Milan as negotiations with Feyenoord proved successful.
Milan have been missing a true striker for many seasons now, and they hope to have now gotten him as 23-year-old Giménez is all set to join the Red and Black side.
Giménez, who scored 7 goals in 11 Eredivisie appearances this season (he missed 8 league games this year through injury), has been on the minds of the Milan management for quite some time, and they decided to go all the way for him in this mercato after a disastrous first half of the season.
After several weeks of negotiations and a few failed bids, Milan and Feyenoord have today (Saturday) struck a total agreement for Santiago: as reported by Matteo Moretto of Revelo, the Dutch side will get €35 million (including bonuses) plus a percentage of a future sale. This makes Giménez one of the biggest investments made by the Diavolo in recent years.
El Bebote got on a plane on Saturday evening and is already in Milano. He will have his medical check-ups tomorrow before signing the contract at Casa Milan and then heading to San Siro to watch his new teammates in action in the Derby Dell Madonnina against Inter (18:00 CET kick-off).
Giménez will be Milan’s starting striker for the rest of the season and the hope is that finally the Rossoneri will have a top-level striker in their ranks.
