The board at La Liga outfit Girona are growing increasingly confident of striking a deal for a member of the defensive ranks at Catalan neighbours Barcelona.
That’s according to Catalunya-based outlet ARA, who point towards Eric García as the player in question.
Defender Eric, it is understood, remains open to the possibility of departing Barcelona before the transfer window comes to a close.
This comes with the Spanish international aware that he is in line for a secondary role under the watch of new boss Hansi Flick.
Girona, in turn, are eager to take advantage of the situation.
After Eric shone across a loan stint at the Estadi Montilivi last season, all associated with the Blanquivermells would be keen to have him back for their upcoming Champions League adventure.
And, as per the aforementioned ARA, as much could soon become a reality.
With Barcelona increasingly open to a sale amid efforts to secure fresh funds, ‘Girona expect to close the signing of Eric Garcia in the next few days’.
Any such deal would come for a fee in the region of €15 million, with it concluded that:
‘The three parties see with good eyes that everything ends with the Catalan wearing the Girona shirt.’
