Grading the adidas 2026 World Cup Kits

adidas has rolled out its fresh collection of home kits for the 2026 FIFA World Cup — and as expected, we’ve got some absolute stunners, a few middle-of-the-road efforts, and one or two designs that feel like missed opportunities. We grade the ones we’ll be seeing next summer.

adidas recently unveiled its largest slate of national team kits ever: a 22-piece collection that represents five continents to varying levels of breadth and depth. With our anticipation for the 2026 World Cup only continuing to grow, let’s examine the kits from clubs we’ll almost certainly see take the field in the United States, Mexico, and Canada next summer. That means no Peru or Chile — tough misses in qualification — and none of the European sides still sweating out their spots, like Sweden, Scotland, or Wales.

Instead, we’re looking at the confirmed contenders, the near-certainties, and one beloved traditional powerhouse we’re all rooting to see back under the bright lights.

So, how did adidas do? Here are our grades for the 2026 World Cup kits:

Argentina: A+

The reigning champs didn’t just show up, they showed out. This kit brings that iconic Albiceleste energy, but with a futuristic twist: crisp gradient blue stripes that represent the different shades of blue that the nation won each of their three titles in, framed by sharp black accents. It’s bold. It’s stylish. It’s almost definitely the final dance for Lionel Messi in Argentina colors — and what a fashion-forward farewell it could be.

Mexico: A

adidas went into the time machine and came back with a modern remix of the beloved 1998 classic. After the experimental era of darker kits, El Tri returns to the green that defines them. Rich color, heritage swagger — the host nation is going to look like royalty on home turf.

Colombia: D

Colombia deserved fireworks. Instead, they got… a bore. It’s clean and traditional, sure, but where’s the flavor? Where’s the spark? With the talent and hype surrounding Los Cafeteros, this kit feels like adidas hit the brakes when they should’ve hit turbo.

Japan: C

Japan usually pushes boundaries. This year? They played it a little too safe. The Samurai Blue’s crest lines up on the heart while the linear design motif gives the shirt a bit of personality, but it still blends into the crowd. On a World Cup stage that begs for boldness, Japan needed a loud shout and got a polite whisper.

Algeria: C

Fresh. Tidy. Minimalist. Algeria’s kit won’t offend anyone… but it won’t live in anyone’s memory either. Elegant for everyday wear — less so for the world’s biggest party.

Qatar: B

Qatar keeps its signature maroon energy flowing — and honestly, it works. It’s a unique palette in world football, and the design pops just enough to make people look twice. Not groundbreaking, but absolutely recognizable.

Saudi Arabia: A

A vibe. The geometric “doorway” pattern is both culturally rooted and visually striking. Then there’s the surprise twist: purple detailing that elevates the whole look into something truly tournament-ready. One of the freshest kits in the lineup, hands down.

Not officially in (yet) — but looking like they are:

Germany: A

Vintage with a modern snap. The 1990 echo is strong, and the execution is immaculate. Germany always brings intimidation — this time, they look killer while doing it.

Spain: B

Classic Roja style — refined simplicity and sharp accents. It won’t shock the world, but it definitely won’t disappoint. A smooth, safe win for the Spaniards.

Belgium: C

The “gothic stained glass” effect tries to give Belgium some personality, but the result lands somewhere between interesting and forgettable. The Red Devils remain consistently… fine.

Fingers crossed:

Italy: B+

If the Azzurri return, they’ll arrive dressed to impress in their signature royal blue cape. Traditional crest, proud four stars, that unmistakable Italian confidence. Not revolutionary — but absolutely classy. And honestly, Italy looking like Italy is a blessing we all want back on the World Cup runway.
