Grêmio beat Coritiba 1-0 at Arena do Grêmio to rise from 13th to 11th in the Brasileirão.
Bruno Melo was sent off in the 30th minute. Moments later, Carlos Vinícius had a goal ruled out by VAR for offside (37.). Gabriel Mec then steered in from José Enamorado's cross (43.).
After the restart, Imortal tightened their grip. Tetê twice tested Pedro Rangel, while Erick Noriega's introduction at half time added control in midfield.
Weverton made four saves, notably denying Tinga and Lucas Ronier, as Coxa pushed for a leveller.
Juan Nardoni thought he had sealed it, but VAR ruled out his strike in the fourth minute of stoppage time at the end of the second half. Jacy Maranhão was then sent off in the eighth minute of stoppage time at the end of the second half, leaving Coxa with nine men.
Rangel still produced a late stop, palming away Cristian Pavon's drive in the 10th minute of stoppage time at the end of the second half.
Tricolor Gaúcho registered 22 attempts and 56.1% possession. Coxa produced 15 attempts.
Next, Imortal visit Palestino in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana. Coxa travel to Vitória next in the league.
