It is known that Barcelona’s attack is set for the season. Lamine Yamal and Raphinha will take the wings, while Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski share the forward role.

But the big question for Hansi Flick, as reported by SPORT, is how to connect this frontline with the midfield.

This is because so far this season, finding the right player to link passes, create chances, and unlock defences has been tricky.

Notably, Marc Casado and Pedri are expected to hold the midfield in upcoming games, as Gavi and Frenkie De Jong remain sidelined with injuries.

The missing piece is the attacking midfielder, a position that could define how smooth Barcelona’s attack becomes.

Flick has tried multiple options in the first three La Liga matches, but none have fully solved the problem.

Against Valencia, the same question arises – who will take charge of the crucial attacking link?

Dani Olmo holds the key

Flick has experimented with different players in this role. Fermin Lopez started against Mallorca, Raphinha took the left against Levante, and Dani Olmo featured against Rayo Vallecano.

None of these choices convinced the coach completely, leading to in-game adjustments to find the best fit. However, the former Leipzig star is likely to take the role against Valencia.

For what it is worth, Olmo was signed to be Barcelona’s creative spark in this position. When fully fit, he can be the player who turns tight spaces into scoring chances, either by assisting or finding the net himself.

So far, Flick has been careful with him, using him as a second-half option against Mallorca and Levante, while starting him against Rayo Vallecano.

Barcelona now face a busy run of seven games before the next international break, including Valencia, Newcastle, Getafe, Oviedo, Real Sociedad, PSG, and Sevilla.

Flick’s challenge is clear: establish a strong midfield backbone and finally settle on the player who can connect the midfield and attack, ensuring Barcelona maintain their attacking edge in every match.
