With limited financial capacity, Barcelona are focusing on renewing contracts across the squad to retain their most important players.
Sporting director Deco has already secured the futures of several players like Pedri, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, and Pau Cubarsi, and is now working on other strategic cases.
The Catalans are optimistic about Frenkie de Jong’s extension, have reached a verbal agreement with Wojciech Szczesny to stay for another year, and have finalised a deal with Lamine Yamal.
Negotiations are progressing calmly for the renewals of Raphinha and Jules Kounde, who have become key pillars of Hansi Flick’s team.
Now, SPORT reports that among the next priorities for Barcelona is Eric Garcia, whose contract also ends in 2026 and who, until recently, seemed likely to depart.
Under Xavi Hernandez, he was loaned out to Girona, and following the arrival of Hansi Flick, there were initial doubts about his future. Now, there are none.

Flick considers Garcia one of the most improved players in the squad this season and wants him to stay.
The Barcelona head coach already made that clear in January by blocking a potential loan move amid heavy interest from Girona, and has now requested that the club secure Garcia on a long-term deal.
The German coach plans to give the former Manchester City star consistent playing time, both as a central defender and a defensive midfielder.
Flick values Garcia’s tactical intelligence and believes he contributes significantly during set pieces and with late runs into the box.
The player himself is happy at the club and prioritises staying. All signs point to him getting minutes next season.
While Barcelona are open to selling other central defenders this summer due to an overload in the position, Garcia appears to have secured his place in the squad.
