Leeds United teenager Harry Gray has gone back to Thorp Arch for treatment on a hamstring strain sustained on loan at Rotherham United, though new boss Lee Clark has said his season is not over. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 17-year-old forward has temporarily returned to his parent club.
Gray had been ever present for the Millers since his January switch to League One but missed the midweek defeat to Peterborough United. The following day Matt Hamshaw was sacked and replaced quickly by Clark.
Clark said the return to Leeds for medical care is standard with young loanees, adding that the Premier League club's facilities and proximity make sense. He is hopeful Gray could be available for the next block of matches after Saturday.
Hamshaw had rated Gray highly and the promise of regular minutes helped secure the move. Clark wants the young attacker back involved as soon as fitness allows.
He described Gray as exciting and well schooled, and said injuries have blighted Rotherham's campaign. Clark noted a lengthy treatment room on his first day, confirmed he knows his squad for Saturday and hopes players return for the final eight games to help finish the job.
Rotherham visit league-leading Lincoln City on Saturday, managed by former Leeds coach Michael Skubala, before hosting Stevenage at New York Stadium. Gray's problem is thought to be relatively minor and should keep him out for around two to three weeks.
